Ballard Canyon - Santa Barbara County
Stolpman Vineyard is planted to 80 acres of Syrah in Santa Barbara's Ballard Canyon. Even 25 miles from the coast, the marine influence coming in from the Pacific makes for cool evenings and helps extend the growing season. The rolling hillsides and south facing exposure of the Stolpman Vineyard ensures complete ripeness and produces an amazing concentration, robust dark color and equally rich flavors.
The vines are planted in devigorating and well-draining limestone soils with a full southern exposure. Stolpman Vineyard is managed by perhaps the most respected precision viticulture team in the Central Coast, Coastal Vineyard Care Associates headed by Jeff Newton, who also manages the much talked about Jonata Wine project located next to Stolpman and owned by the owners of Screaming Eagle with consulting winemaker, Michael Rolland. The best way to experience this vineyard is to try one of the compelling wines made from the vineyard from Vie Winery or other prominent wineries including Ojai Vineyard, Jaffurs Wines, Tensley Wines, Carina Cellars Winery, Kaena Wine, Beckmen Vineyards, Herman Story Wine, and McPrice Myers, as well as their own wine, Stolpman Vineyards, produced by Sashi Moorman of Red Car Wine fame.
